7/20/2015

On July 17, in cooperation with the Aspen Foods/Koch Poultry Co., Pleasanton, Calif.-based Safeway Inc. announced a voluntary recall of Safeway Kitchens chicken products. The store brand products, sold in the frozen food area of all Safeway, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Carrs and Pak N' Save and Genuardi's stores throughout the United States, could be contaminated with Salmonella enteritidis.

The recall affects Safeway Kitchens Chicken Kiev (UPC code 2113021447), Safeway Kitchens Chicken Cordon Bleu (UPC code 2113021446) and Safeway Kitchens Broccoli & Cheese Chicken (UPC code 2113021445). All products feature "best before dates" of July 14, 2016 through Oct. 10, 2016, Safeway said.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported or linked to the Safeway Kitchens products. However, three cases of Salmonella enteritidis illness have reportedly been linked to other products produced by Aspen Foods/Koch Poultry Co., Safeway said. Customers who purchased any of these products are being told to discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
