Perrigo initiates voluntary product recall of select children's cough remedies

1/12/2016

Perrigo Company plc, Dublin, said that following the recent recall of certain dosing cups by its supplier, it has initiated a voluntary product recall in the United States to the retail level of two batches of its children's guaifenesin grape liquid and three batches of its children's guaifenesin DM cherry liquid. The products are sold in 4-ounce bottles with a dosage cup in a box under store brands offered by H.E.B., Kroger, CVS/pharmacy, Rite-Aid, Topco Associates, Dollar General and Ahold USA, as well as under Perrigo's own GoodSense value brand and McKesson Corp.'s Sunmark brand. This recall is being initiated because some packages contain an oral dosing cup with incorrect dose markings.

"There have been no reports of adverse events to Perrigo as a result of the incorrect dosage markings," said Joseph Papa, Perrigo's chairman and CEO. "Perrigo is taking this action to maintain the highest possible product quality standards for our retail customers and consumers. We are taking this action because it is the right thing to do."

This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the FDA, the company stated.
