Sovena USA re-accredited by International Olive Council

Rome, N.Y.-based Sovena USA, one of the country’s largest olive oil companies, said it once again earned accreditation by the International Olive Council (IOC). The lab accreditation confirms that Sovena USA uses the required technologic procedures and testing methods to determine the chemical and organoleptic characteristics of olive oil, guaranteeing its authenticity, safety and quality.

The only olive oil industry player in the country to hold this certification, Sovena USA is one of the largest private label olive oil suppliers nationwide, packing more than 50 percent of all store brand olive oil, the company said.

The IOC also recognizes two other laboratories from Sovena Group in Spain, demonstrating the company’s global commitment to quality and food safety.

Founded in 1959 in Madrid, Spain, the IOC is the globally recognized intergovernmental organization for the olive oil industry. IOC members account for 98 percent of the world’s olive oil production.
